Falling in love with Japan didn't happen in an instant. For some of us it was slow, built over many trips through the years. For others it came only after leaving Japan, and realising from far away what treasures were back home.
But the more time we spent travelling and learning about Japan, the clearer one thing became. The Japan most visitors see is a tiny fragment of what it has to offer: the restaurants locals actually eat at, the regions beyond the usual Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka route, the localised experiences nobody translates. You could call them secrets, but most are out in the open. They just never get the spotlight they deserve. So we thought: if the spotlight isn't there, why not make it ourselves?
So that's what we do. We take the Japan that locals share with each other and build it into trips for everyone to experience for themselves.
